Visit in this tour one of the most recognizable monuments of the city, on Amalias Avenue, the Hadrian’s Gate. It is the honorary arch built in 131 BC, by Athenians to honor the emperor-benefactor Hadrian. It has two inscriptions, the first on the Acropolis side says: “Here is Athens, the city of Theseus” and second side towards the Olympics it says: “This is the city of Hadrian and not Theseus.”
