Metropolis Church Of Athens

The Metropolitan Church of Athens is located at Mitropoleos Square, on the same street that connects Syntagma Square with Monastiraki Square. In this tour you will visit the magnificent temple that was completed in 1862 and takes the form of a cruciform three-aisled basilica with a dome and is dedicated to the Annunciation of Virgin Mary. Here many great religious ceremonies such as weddings and funerals of important people have taken place. The relics of Patriarch Gregorios E and Saint Filotheis of Athena are kept inside the temple.
