A tour around the most important sights of the historical center of Athens.
We begin this beautiful exploration, with the Temple of Olympus Zeus which was one of the greatest sanctuaries of Greece during Hellenistic and Roman times.
Next stop is the Acropolis. Acropolis’ rock is estimated to have been inhabited since the 3rd millennium BC. The Parthenon is the temple that dominates the hill of Acropolis and is one of the most admired pieces of artwork in the history of humanity. It was built in the mid 5th century under the direction of the architects Iktinos and Kallikratis and dedicated to the Greek goddess Athena (“Athena the Virgin”). The temple is regarded as the culmination of the Doric order, the simplest of the three Classical Greek architectural orders. This architectural masterpiece has been there for more than 2,000 years.
We continue our visit to the Panathenaic Stadium (or Kallimarmaro). It is the only stadium in the world entirely built of marble. The stadium hosted the Panathenaic Games, an athletic and religious festival celebrated every four years in honour of the goddess Athena. At the Panathenaic Stadium, took place the first Olympic Games in 1896.
Last but not least we visit the two most important museums of Athens; the Museum of Acropolis, located about 300 meters southeast of the Parthenon and boasting a breathtaking direct visual connection with the Acropolis Rock and the National Archaeological Museum of Greece, one of the most important museums of the world in the field of Ancient Art. Within their premises you will have the opportunity to travel in the past and to experience the way of life of the world. Get ready for a unique experience.
